I don't believe anyone should wear make-up unless they are clear that they are wearing it for themselves and not to impress others - girls should be encourage to love the way they look naturally before enhancing or adding extra colour.... I love make-up and if I forget my keys and purse I always have a kohl pencil and lipstick...
Whenever they are able to put it on nicely. The key to make up is not being able to tell its on. I started in like 7th grade maybe even 6th. Its not a big deal as long as it looks good.
That varies with the locality. Whenever they do, it is important that they learn good skin care first. A fun idea is to have a Mary Kay consultant come to a party and teach them how to take care of their skin and how to apply makeup to fit their ages. I started wearing make-up when I was in highschool, but only councealer because I had acne. Really just no heavy mascare, and eyeliner, because thats reserved for the evening.
I started at seventh grade. But slowly, first it was lipgloss, then lipgloss and mascara, then lipgloss mascara and blush and nailpolish. And that's all I wear on an everyday basis and that's all what you really need to wear
Most people would say High School, and I have to say it you are naturally pretty why bother at all. I would say 13-15ish.

if you do I would say about 11 but dont let them wear to much. At about the age 11 girls start to feel insecure and wearing makeup even just a little makes them feel prettier.
I think young girls get the urge as they mature and it's pride for them. I believe when they decide they are ready it's OK. Parents may not all agree with this, but Kids are not all dumb. When a young girl wants to try makeup parents should help them and show them how it's worn properly.

I would rather it be when my daughter completely understand that the make up does not maker her. yeah that sounds corny, but i hate that girls grow up thinking they need so much make up to make themselves beautiful.
That's a hard question for me to answer because when I was in school and I mean all the way through high school I was not allowed to wear makeup and neither was my friends.

I would have to say when they can completely understand it. I would say 14 and up.
I've decided to let my daughter start wearing make-up when she enters Middle School. But nothing too heavy...some foundation or bronzer and maybe a light eye shadow and mascara. I don't think I'll let her put on the black eyeliner until 9th grade. Hopefully my daughter will feel that she doesn't need make-up to be pretty but if she wants to wear make-up and it will help her self confidence then i will let her.
I think they should be allowed to whenever they want, but 6th grade is a good time to start. I mean I've been wearing nail polish since 1st grade or so, but like eyeliner and stuff I started when I was 11.

I use a creamy foundation under my eyes (so I dont look tired), then I put on a Cover Girl base foundation, then I put on Mineral Wear cover up on my face and neck, then I put on a bit of bronzer and blush, then I put on eyeshadow, then eyeliner, then mascara. ha ha I know it sounds like a lot but I do not over do it.What is your daily routine for make-up on a school day?
I don't wear a lot and i'm in middle school but this is what i do and i wake up at 5 a.m. so it should be easy. Start with a moisturizes then use a powder foundation because ';mousse'; foundation will make you look like you have weird stuff on your face. Make sure you brush down with the foundation because the hair on your face grows down. Next do your eyes. I use a liner on top and bottom but stop at you pupil from the outside in. Make sure you fade it a little. I would pick a shadow that ';blends'; with your skin tone (not to light or dark). For lips DON'T USE A LIP LINER but just do a gloss that has some color. Use a blush that matches your skin color or is a little darker. But my most important tip is MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A NATURAL LOOK!!

NO. She's too young for anything but possibly a little colored lip gloss.
Of course, it's your choice because you are her mother and everyone is entitled to their opinion. My parents didn't let me wear make-up until I was 16 and when I was 16 I was a Junior in high school. I think high school level is an appropriate age to let your daugher wear make-up. I think 11 years old is WAY WAY WAY TOO young. I think that's what's wrong with America today, when you turn on the television kids mostly see skin, sex, beauty, etc. and then they want to look like what's on TV which is a fake image. Let kids be kids and when they become young adults then help them make wiser decisions. Beauty is only in the eye of the beholder. An 11 year old should not even be thinking about wearing make-up. With how much society has changed, now a days its common to see girls as young as 8 being decked out in make up. Those same girls are also mistaken for being older than what they really are and put into situations they are not yet ready to handle. When I was younger (I am 25 now) I had to wait until I was 13 to wear makeup(I had to earn the right to wear it). I just feel 11 is still too young. If you do OK your daughter to wear makeup, I would stick to clear lipgloss and maybe some light(almost skin toned) eye shadow. That way she can wear it, yet it really won't be too noticeable. I agree with the rest of them here. Of course she wants to wear make up and dress up like mommy and what not, but I'd keep it to a minimal and maybe just natural colored stuff. Lip gloss, maybe a little light blush, and/or natural colors eye shadow. Something really subtle so that it doesn't look ';trashy'; but she still feels pretty and grown up because she knows shes wearing make-up. Good luck!
First you have to ask yourself why is it your daughter wants to wear make up. In answering this, you should ask her. Is it :
-Because everyone else is wearing it?
-Because she thinks she doesn't look pretty enough?
-Because she wants to look like the models in the beauty magazines?
-Because she wants to look just like you?
You see, I understand the impulse of a little girl wanting to wear make up. I have been there, after all. But it was just dress up and fun for me. I had no desire (at the time) to go out wearing make up. But what IS Make up? the name says it all. It has been arund from greek times, when greek women crushed rose petals made other stuff to accentuate their features - to make them look more desireable to the OPPOSITE SEX.
I personally think you need to let your daughter understand that she IS beautiful without make up. When she gets older and desires to wear it then that's fine, as long as she understands that they are just to 'compliment' her beauty.
Maybe I am reading too much in this, but you should at least ask her why, first. All the best!

If she's in middle school I think its fine to wear some mascara and lip gloss. That's pretty much all they would probably wear anyway (I think). I don't think letting them wear foundation is good though because it will ruin her skin.

My niece is 7 and wears those lipglosses for kids, so at 11 I think she can wear regular lipgloss. That's about all I would let her wear, though...My mom let me wear makeup at 13.

my mother set the date for 2nd semester 8th grade ( a year before i went into high school to work out the kinks and see whats best for always having to get checked before going out the door)

Apply some chapstick or lip balm. It will soften your lips so you won't have chapped lips throughout the day. Add some gloss for some color and shine. Make sure you put on a very light layer. Don't use too much, it just looks a little trashy to me.
Mascara is great also and what I wear everyday. It makes your eyelashes thicker, bold, longer, curler, and have more volume. Of course, that all depends on the mascara you buy and what you are really looking for. Mascara will really make you look awake.
Some foundation is good also, if you want. Foundation is optional and I only wear it sometimes. If you need coverage or need to even out your skin tone, than you can use it. Back to school make-up and hair?
I'm really not sure how to wear my hair and make-up for back to school. I have never really had a make-up regimine but I do have a lot of make-up and a lot of options so I want to experiment.
And I really don't know what to do with my hair. It is a medium brown color and a little bit past my shoulders. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

First day of school is so exciting...I'm going into my 2nd year as an English teacher, and last year all the girls looked SO pretty and done up it was adorable, I wanted pictures to preserve that day because after that with the exception of a few, the girls were all sweat pants, frizzy hair, etc...still gorgeous, just I loved the way they looked day 1..very friendly! :)
I'd say you make sure to keep the same routine for make up all year...or at least a routine in general. Depending on what you look like, it might be a shock for you to wear make up for like 3 weeks then all of a sudden stop. What I would do to get ready in the morning is to start off with a good liquid foundation. Make sure to get this EVERYWHERE. that means, put it under your eyes (covers up black circles) and on your eyelids and under your eyebrows because it really lightens up your eyes and makes you look more awake! Then what I'd do after that is either put on a powder over top...I don't do that...instead I put a LITTLE bit of bronzer on the apples of my cheeks (SMILE, you'll find them!) and some on my forehead. This makes you look sunkissed...if you don't want bronzer, then try some really light pink blush on just the apples of your cheeks. For your eyes, start with an eyeshadow. a light pink might be nice, or even a tan/sparkley white...Sometimes I like to match my eyeshadow to the outfits I'm wearing (as long as I'm not wearing something like bright yellow or neon green!). After that, curl your lashes. Put on some eyeliner...I'd only line the bottom...you can either put it all the way across your eye or 3/4ths...its all about preference. Then top it off with black mascara to open up your eyes...you can put it just on the top lashes or on the top and bottom if you want! Then put on some sheer lipgloss. Your eyes sound really pretty, so the darker more dramatic make up will make them the focal point!
Now for your hair...if you can get it to curl, I think it would be nice to make your hair curly, then leave out your sidebangs (if you don't have them...you should consider getting them, they look good on everyone!). Then you can put up half of your hair and clip it back with bobbies or a nice barrette!

I would put some mascara, and a sparkly yet subtle pink eyeshadow. Then just a little blush and maybe some lip gloss. I've tried all sorts of ';looks'; and the ones that look best are the ones with less makeup on. What kind of hair do you have??
If it's curly, i would push it back with a black or brown headband. With the your side bangs. (get them if you don't have them)
If it's straight, do the headband thing and the bangs but give it some volume in the back and curl the ends out.
Maybe get a trim too, so hair hair would hit your shoulders exactly

hey, im in the same grade as you and also just cut my hair medium length past my sholders and its light brown. well i wouldnt wear a whole lot of makeup not a lot do, i mean people do but you dont see as many of them. use concealer if needed or a light foundation tinted moisturizer, nothing more then a lip gloss and eyeliner and mascara, not to many go for eye shadow either. its simple and cheap to go the natural way. you can always go and get some layers or bangs with your hair if your looking for a change and maybe a suttle highlights or lowlights whatever way you want to go. but dont go to far from your natural hair like barely there type of highlights that just add that ';somethings diffrent about you'; look hope you have a great sophmore year!
it might be fun to get your hair cut right before you head back to school. that way things are definitely different and you can ask your stylist how you can easily style it but it will still look amazing every day.
make up wise- i would go buy some cheap make up form a drug store and just experiment with different eye make up. this year i had a lot of fun trying out different colors of eyeliner. it sounds kind of boring but it really makes a difference. i have blue/green eyes too and using purple and blue eyeliner made my eyes look totally different.

well for school, I would suggest not wearing tooo much make-up, just taking it easy, maybe foundation and some eyeliner..... try taking your hair and taking the front and clipping it back but leaving your bangs down. First day of school is so exciting...I'm going into my 2nd year as an English teacher, and last year all the girls looked SO pretty and done up it was adorable, I wanted pictures to preserve that day because after that with the exception of a few, the girls were all sweat pants, frizzy hair, etc...still gorgeous, just I loved the way they looked day 1..very friendly! :)
I'd say you make sure to keep the same routine for make up all year...or at least a routine in general. Depending on what you look like, it might be a shock for you to wear make up for like 3 weeks then all of a sudden stop. What I would do to get ready in the morning is to start off with a good liquid foundation. Make sure to get this EVERYWHERE. that means, put it under your eyes (covers up black circles) and on your eyelids and under your eyebrows because it really lightens up your eyes and makes you look more awake! Then what I'd do after that is either put on a powder over top...I don't do that...instead I put a LITTLE bit of bronzer on the apples of my cheeks (SMILE, you'll find them!) and some on my forehead. This makes you look sunkissed...if you don't want bronzer, then try some really light pink blush on just the apples of your cheeks. For your eyes, start with an eyeshadow. a light pink might be nice, or even a tan/sparkley white...Sometimes I like to match my eyeshadow to the outfits I'm wearing (as long as I'm not wearing something like bright yellow or neon green!). After that, curl your lashes. Put on some eyeliner...I'd only line the bottom...you can either put it all the way across your eye or 3/4ths...its all about preference. Then top it off with black mascara to open up your eyes...you can put it just on the top lashes or on the top and bottom if you want! Then put on some sheer lipgloss. Your eyes sound really pretty, so the darker more dramatic make up will make them the focal point!
Now for your hair...if you can get it to curl, I think it would be nice to make your hair curly, then leave out your sidebangs (if you don't have them...you should consider getting them, they look good on everyone!). Then you can put up half of your hair and clip it back with bobbies or a nice barrette!

When school closes for snow days, should schools then have make up days in the spring time?
I believe that when in the winter time schools decide to close because of the snow, that when spring time comes, schools should require the kids to come in and make up the time lost from the winter school closings. I do not recomend Claire's and Ardene because the makeup there is very cheap quality and not good for your skin therefore you will probably develop pimples, and as you know .. no one likes pimples! I suggest you try Cover Girl cosmetics. Its obviously a little bit more expensive then Claire's or Ardene but at least you are guaranteed good quality makeup for your skin. Here are a few things I recomend for you.

*Natural- tinted moisturizer, maybe bronzer, beige eyeshadow, brownish black mascara, brown eyeliner
*Smoky Eye- line the other half edge of your eyes with brown or black eye liner, apply brownish black/ black mascara to curled lashes (2 coats to top lashes), apply silver eye shadow to lids, blend black eye shadow to creases and outer edges of lids, apply white shiny shadow just below brows; use this look with natural, light lips
*Red lips- pair bright red lipstick with natural eyes
*Twist on smoky eyes- do the same thing as with previous smoky eye look but use shades of purple instead; it's creative and hot

You want to go to school looking nice and fresh. It really depends on your features.
The trick is to wear make-up but look natural. By that I mean you don't want to go to school early in the morning with electric blue eye shadow and black rings around your eyes, or garish red lipstick.
A light foundation in your own skin color, lightly applied. There is nothing worse when speaking with someone in day light and seeing the thick much of paste on their skin. Gross!
Some light blush, a little mascara... lightly applied, just to give a little color to your lashes and last of all, some lip gloss or soft pastel color.
Is ur school really strict. Just do it naturally. wear foundation and light eyeshadow and lip gloss. Curl eyelashes instead of mascara or with it

- Put on a light and sheer lipcolor. But, make sure the color pops but not too much.. because you have to remember that this is supposed to be daytime casual makeup.
Matte lipstick is really in this season so try getting your hands on some pink or red matte lipstick.

I'm writing a column for my school newspaper, and its a list of classes that I wish high school had. Some of it is serious such as Latin and Creative Writing, and others are belly dancing and palm reading.
I only need one more... I originally had glassblowing, but my teacher said it sounded like we would use the class to make bongs or pipes :P

I want to go to Jow Blasco make-up school in Hollywood. Can anybody tell me anything about it from expirience?
I had a friend that went there. He started out in FL and transferred because he hated the school so much. He though the different location would be better. But it wasn't. They don't really allow there students to be creative and are sort of uptight about allot of things. Any projects you make there they get to keep and can do with as they please.
I have talked to allot of people that went there while writing reviews for schools and most people dislike Blasco. In general they are not too highly looked upon in the industry either.

use a rosy pink blusher on the apples of your cheeks...this looks very pretty on it's own...although if you want to you can use a tiny bit of bronzer to highlight your cheekbones...
for lips, just leave them bare and use a lipbalm...or a clear gloss, or a nude lipcolour if you want to wear lipstick...a pale pink gloss works well too...

Try moisturiser and a pale foundation, a little bit of blusher not too much, mascara and clear lip gloss it worked for me through my school years, well until year 11 when I rebelled and wore whatever tee hee. (and the teachers thought I was the good one)

a light brown or ';heather'; coloured eyeshadow would look good....also a light brown or olive green eyeliner, the eyeliner would look great on it's own too, smuged a little bit on the top lid :)...you could even leave your eyelids bare and use a bit of brown/black mascara...
use a rosy pink blusher on the apples of your cheeks...this looks very pretty on it's own...although if you want to you can use a tiny bit of bronzer to highlight your cheekbones...
for lips, just leave them bare and use a lipbalm...or a clear gloss, or a nude lipcolour if you want to wear lipstick...a pale pink gloss works well too...

And by the time your 13 all the girls will be wearing make-up and you'd totally differnciate your self by not wearing make-up, and when you start wearing make-up you have to kinda wear it all the time cause the minute you take it off you can see a BIG difference, and you won't seem as attractive. My mother didn't start wearing make-up til she was 30 and people mistake her to be 28 years old but she's 45!

Anyway, I think you should do really subtle makeup since you're so young.
Okay, to start off.. use a moisturizer for your face. And let it sink in, so your skin will be soft and not dry. If you have oily skin, dust a bit of powder foundation over your face just to make it less shiny. If your skin is dry, use a bit of foundation mixed with your moisturizer to make your skin smooth.
Eyes...
Apply some eyeshadow in a nice brown shade. Don't do pink or blue or even gray, because it will look like youre trying too hard since it'll match your shirt. This is a mistake many girls make--matching their shirts to their makeup. Ick.
You will look cute and older with a brown shadow. curl your eyelashes if you can. This will make your eyelahshes look long and curly and thick for the picture! Use black mascara. But make sure you don't use too much! One or two coats is fine.
Lipgloss- use a lipgloss that is a few shades darker than your natural lip color. Preferably one with shine. But once again make sure you dont use too much because your lips will look toooo shiny.

My daughter is 6 and I have never stopped her from wearing lip gloss. As she gets older, I will weigh makeups benefits and drawbacks accordingly. If making acne a little less noticeable or bringing out her eyes with a little mascara helps her confidently enjoy a day at school - then what's the harm?

Not too much makeup, cuz it can really distract you throughout the day. But eyeliner, mascara, blush, %26amp; some lipgloss should be be fine on a day to day basis. Some days, people are just too lazy to even bother with makeup, especially in the middle of the year when finals come around, so once you get into the whole high school schedule, no one really cares.
For clothes, just wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident! :)

If you have perfect skin Id suggest just a moisterizer with sunscreen, a good eyelash curler, a good mascara that give you mega length, and thats it. But if you do choose to wear foundation go for a water base foundation, do not get an oil base foundation bad for your skin. also get a primer, it'll help your make up from saying on longer get a conceler too. and mascara and all that fun stuff. I say buy some eyeshadows and good brushes and just go home and be an artist. It's very fun to just play around with eyeshadows and stuff like that :)

BTW the more make up you wear the worse your acne is! I have brown hair and brown eyes so when I wear make up I just wear brown eyeliner on my botton lids right above the lash line (The part closest to your eyeball) and then wear some black or brown black mascara. Do not wear eyeliner all around your eye this causes your eye to look smaller. If you want wear some clear lip gloss or just chapstick with SPF in it. Leave the blush and stuff for the old ladies! Really do what ever makes you feel beautiful. I feel the most beautiful at my simplest times like when I am wearing no makeup and have my hair up in a bun and wearing sweatpants. And hopefully your hair is naturally blonde and if it is naturally a darker color let in grow out.. Cuz when dark roots peak out it looks cheap. But if it is a natural blonde than consider yourself lucky because that is a rare trait. Good luck with school.

I would go natural. Do not over power one feature. i would do black mascara-a little more on the outer edges of your eyes though, I would also do a sweep of shimmer blush on your cheek bones. Also, I would use a soft apircot-pink lipgloss. This is just what I would do. Colors may vary because of sken and eye colors. I would go natural. Do not over power one feature. i would do black mascara-a little more on the outer edges of your eyes though, I would also do a sweep of shimmer blush on your cheek bones. Also, I would use a soft apircot-pink lipgloss. This is just what I would do. Colors may vary because of sken and eye colors. I would say so, but then again, i am older. What is the reason for the make-up? You should have nothing to hide, your skin should be radiant as ever at that age. so just use some natural colors like browns pinks for eyeshadows

Well it really depends if you're comfortable wearing makeup and your parents allow it. Some people like to start early and others won't really touch makeup until they're like 20. I would suggest making it look very natural; a little eyeliner, curling your lashes, etc. I would suggest to use little to no eyeshadow and use concealer if you have blemishes or dark under eye circles( although I wouldn't really recommend to put it on your blemishes because you could break out) Blush or bronzer can help you look more awake but don't over do it. Foundation wouldn't really be good for school since it might feel too heavy on your skin. I would use a tinted moisturizer instead. You should also check out videos on YouTube; that helped me a lot.

use a mascara in ur hair color to curl and lengthen your eyelashes.
apply eye liner when in the mood on the bottom part of your eye only for kicks.
you can make do w/o the rest!

My favorite basics for school? Mascara, lip gloss, and blush. Just a little concealer for any unsightly breakouts, and I was good to go!

Cover any spots with a medicated concealer and use a touch of brown mascara on the tips of your eyelashes. Lastly I would apply a little clear lip gloss. The trick is to make it look natural, otherwise you'll probably get told by teachers to wash it off anyway, just as they did to me in my day.
